Projects - Current Projects

The Westfield - Southdown Gas Pipeline is intended to reinforce the transmission system in South Auckland to increase the system capacity to enhance security of supply and to aid in meeting the growth in load.

The project works include a new 1.6km section of 350mm diameter pipeline between Westfield Receiving Station (Westfield) and Southdown Delivery Point (Southdown);
Relocation of the existing pig trap (M-03601) and meter (FT-03604) from Westfield to Southdown; Modification of the existing pipework at Westfield to provide an offtake for the new pipeline; Installation of the Westfield pig receiver and meter and new filter/separator equipment at Southdown; and Modification of the existing pipework at Southdown.

The route for the proposed new pipeline runs parallel with Vector's existing DN200 Westfield-Henderson Valley Compressor Station pipeline. The route commences at the Westfield Delivery Point on Mt Wellington Highway, crosses the North Island Main Trunk Railway and Sylvia Park Road, runs parallel with Sylvia Park Road to cross Great South Road (near the intersection of Sylvia Park Road and Great South Road), then crosses the North Auckland Railway to end at the Southdown Delivery Point.
