We believe that our performance can only be validated by our clients and our project results. Which is why we actively seek feedback from our customers and encourage inspections of our finished product.
Here's what some of our customers have had to say about us ...
"Please accept the following letter as a reference for recent wellsite construction projects for BTW Company Ltd on behalf of Shell Todd Oil Service Ltd (Kapuni 6/11 & 8112/15 wellsites) and Todd Energy Ltd (Mangahewa - C & D wellsites).
Hurlstone Earthmoving Ltd (HEL) were awarded the above wellsite civil work contracts based on competitive pricing, experienced staff, modern machinery, tender presentation and HSE attributes.
We found both HEL management and field operators' eager to please and professional. Your team were mindful of Landowner concerns and worked in with farming operations to allow both parties to go about day to day activities. HSE management & documentation is something that impressed us and ensured daily permits were obtained under the Permit to Work System without complications.
There is no doubt that Hurlstone Earthmoving Ltd will be asked to tender on other future civil work projects under BTW Company Ltd's supervision. Please pass on our thanks to all staff involved."

"We are writing to express our appreciation of the aggregate crushing works completed within the Stonefields development (previously operating as Mount Wellington Quarry).
During the period of March to May this year River Island Shingle Company produced 9,300m3 TNZ M4 compliant GAP40, and 10,600m3 TNZ M3 compliant GAP65 from oversized rock produced from development works for construction of roads.
River Island's personnel were diligent in adhering to stringent Health and Safety and dust control requirements during the crushing operation. The area available to undertake the works was limited yet this did not restrict productivity. The oversized rock was broken and crushed consistently in accordance required specification in a reliable and timely manor.
We would recommend River Island to anyone requiring production of aggregates and look forward to dealing with you again in the future."
Owen Clements, Licensed Cadastral Surveyor; Mark Williams, Director Woods - Consultants for Landco Mt. Wellington at Stonefields, Auckland, 10th September, 2009

"Hurlstone Earthmoving are currently contracted to carry out the large scale earthworks involved in the construction of the Central Youth Justice Facility, State Highway 30, Rotorua.
This is the first contact I have had with this company. I have found them to be extremely professional in all aspects during the construction period.
Their attention to detail whether it is in actually carrying out the earthworks or planning ahead is the best I have seen in the 5 years of monitoring and enforcing large scale earthwork consents."
John Holst, Pollution Prevention Officer for Group Manager Water Management Environment Bay of Plenty Regional Council, Whakatane, 9th February, 2009

"During September through to November 2008, I was involved in the monitoring of the overburden stripping and disposal project undertaken by Hurlstone Earthmoving for Hauraki District Council.
The overburden stripping and disposal was of a scale that considerable effort was expended by Hurlstone Earthmoving Limited to ensure that during the term of the project all the proposed environmental controls were correctly installed as per engineering design and subsequently to ensure that all the Erosion and Sediment Control devices were functioning properly during the term of the contract.
Hurlstone Earthmoving Limited were proactive working along with Beca, Hauraki District and Environment Waikato to ensure all the parties involved were kept informed of key milestones whether they be planning, construction targets and consequential milestones for environmental compliance reporting.
As a consequence of this open and transparent process Environment Waikato had full confidence that outstanding issues were able to be dealt with in a timely manner and were able to demonstrate that environmental objectives of consent conditions were fully met.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this project as an example of successful large scale earthworks."

"Aggregate Crushing - SH5, Mohaka River
Just a note to record my pleasure doing business with Greg and his team at River Island Mobile Crushing. My definition of pleasure is:
• The team arrived, set up and began work on the agreed day • Progress crushing the AP65 & M4 product was a lot quicker than expected • Lab testing (independent), confirmed acceptable products • Stockpiles well constructed and compact • Crushing sites left tidy with no environmental issues left for us to sort
Once again, thanks to your team."

"At the end of the earthworks season we have taken the opportunity to review the performance of contractors over the last period.
In particular, I am pleased to advise that your company scored a higher percentage than the average for companies with your number/size of contracts in our region. This is a result in which you and your team should be rightly proud.
The efforts of your team in ensuring the minimum impact on the region's streams, estuaries and harbours, is recognised and important.
We look forward to continuing to work with you and develop the performance of our industry.
Roger Bannister, Manager, Stormwater & Sediment Auckland Regional Council 26th May, 2008

"Hurlstone Earthmoving Ltd won a contract for the extraction, crushing and sieving of 8000 cubic metres of 40mm to dust and 1000 cubic metres of 20mm to dust road and track metal for the Department of Conservation in April 2008.
Hurlstone Earthmoving provided high quality metal to the contract specification using a caterpillar 330D excavator, a caterpillar 950 loader and a 40 ton Lokotrack mobile crusher.
The machinery operated in a confined space and successfully produced and stacked the required volume and specified material for the Department of Conservation for its future use on the considerable length of public metal roads and tracks in Pureora Forest Park.
Hurlstone was able to manage a DOC variation to the contract and communication to and from Hurlstone staff on site was excellent throughout the contract.
The company proved their ability to perform and completed the contract within the given timeframe."
Simon Mailer, Programme Manager (Maniapoto Area Office) Department of Conservation, Te Kuiti, 19th May, 2008

"Perry Aggregates at the Waingaro Road Quarry site awarded Hurlstone Contracting the contract to strip in excess of 100,000cu.m of overburden withinn the quarry site.
.... we were impressed with the level of systems and support Hurlstone's' provided to the client and to their site staff.
.... Hurlstone's took the time to sit down with us and discussed all possible options of how the work could be undertaken as effectively as possible. This included bringing their most experienced supervisors and Foremen to the site to get a `practical' view of the proposed operation. This gave us confidence of their commitment to satisfy our needs and environmental restrictions.
.... Hurlstone's mobilized and established equipment on site within days of award. The equipment was all modern and demonstrated a pride from the operators in the condition of the machines.
Prior to any physical work being undertaken the Company Safety Manager. Paul Benton walked through the entire operation to confirm all Health, Safety and Environmental needs of the project. This gave us confidence to the commitment from Hurlstone's to their systems and the welfare of their staff.
The work was undertaken at a furious rate and impressed many as to the volumes being shifted, the tidiness and smoothness of the operation. At no times were there any disputes as to the work being undertaken and a frequent, open dialogue between the two parties was common place and ensured there were no surprises in the operation or in the invoicing.
I personally would recommend employing Hurlstone Earthmoving for any future work for Perry Aggregates."
Terry Takiari, Quarry Manager (Waingaro Rd Quarry) Perry Aggregates Limited, Ngaruawahia, 15th May, 2008

"Te Henga Road Quarry has layers of clay and sand/silt stone that need to be removed in order to expose the rock.
Hurstone won the tender and commenced stripping in February 2008. The operation requires the overburden to be ripped, loaded, placed and track roll. This is achieved using two CAT 740 ejector trucks a CAT 345 excavator and a D8N Dozer.
A target of 25000 BCM per month has been exceeded and their mobile plant is reliable and well suited for the project.
The Hurstone staff are well trained and conducts themselves in a professional manner. Priority is given to safety and site rules are adhered to. I would recommend Hurstone for any project of similar nature."
Paul Connor, Quarry Manager (Te Henga Quarry) Perry Aggregates Limited, Auckland, 13th May, 2008
